Defining Poverty

Our ER program supports individuals experiencing both short-term financial crises and ongoing financial disadvantages. Whether you're dealing with a one-off emergency or chronic financial struggles, we're here to help.

Defining Poverty

Poverty is more than just a low income; it involves a lack of resources that prevents individuals from fully participating in society. Those living in poverty often lack access to essential services and opportunities, impacting their health, employment, and overall quality of life.

Tailored Support

Our ER services are designed to address immediate financial crises while also identifying other factors affecting a person's wellbeing.

We use a case coordination model to provide comprehensive support, which includes listening to and understanding each individual's unique needs. This model ensures that we can offer appropriate referrals and information to improve their situation.

Types of Assistance

We offer a range of support services, including:

  • Financial and Material Aid: Assistance with utility bills (electricity, water), food vouchers, food parcels, hygiene items, and bedding.
  • Information and Referrals: Connecting clients with financial counsellors, family workers, homelessness services, and rehabilitation services to address underlying issues.

Eligibility and Referral Process

Emergency Relief is available to singles and family groups who are unable to pay their bills or are at imminent risk of financial instability. Referrals can be received from various sources within our designated catchment areas.

Our intake and assessment process is conducted by our admin team, case managers, or program managers to ensure timely support.

If you're struggling to pay your bills or buy essential groceries, MRNC's Emergency Relief program can provide the assistance you need. We partner with local community organizations across New South Wales to offer a safety net during times of financial crisis, ensuring that support is delivered with dignity and encourages self-reliance.
